The move to contracted services was the result of a Iawsuit filed by the Lewisburg Prison Project, on behalf of inmates due to inadequate health care and unsafe housing conditions. A $1.5 million settlement was reached in 2010, and the county upgraded the building and hired Prime Care. A final inspection was held in April 2012, resulting in the Lewisburg Prison Project agreeing to no further legal action against the county and the prison.
