The 'worst place in the federal prison system' is getting a little less awful

As of today, the federal Bureau of Prisons announced that Special Management Units have a two year limit for inmates with most of them being transferred out after one year.  Dave Sprout, a paralegal with the Lewisburg Prison Project, believes this announcement is a step in the right direction in regards to the treatment of the prisoners.  Karen Morin, a Bucknell professor who has studied the Lewisburg penitentiary, agrees that the previous treatment of inmates at SMUs does nothing to improve their mental illnesses.
